Ronda claims to be the origin of bullfighting and is the home of the Real Maestranza de Ronda Equestrian School. Founded in 1572, its purpose was to provide the Spanish aristocracy with an opportunity to learn to ride and fight. They did this by challenging bulls within an arena, and thus was born the first bullfight.
