Before we stopped for a bite to eat for dinner, we took a stroll through the town’s main square, Plaza de María Pita. In 1588 the Spanish Armada established a foothold in the area; the following year Sir Francis Drake tried to occupy the town but was seen out of town by heroine María Pita.
