Torre de Poniente
For marvelous views of the city, we climbed the cathedral’s watchtower. From the top, you can see out over the water, the yellow dome of the cathedral, the Plaza de la Catedral down below, and the many watchtowers that were built in the 18th century so that citizens could keep an eye on shipping without ever having to take a step outside their front doors. Back then, there were 160, of which 127 are still standing, scattered throughout Cádiz.
