The Old Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro, or the "Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Monte do Carmo," is an old Carmelite church which served as the Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro from 1808 to 1976. It is located on the Praça XV square in downtown Rio de Janeiro and is one of the most historically important churches in the city.
