Museo Guggenheim
After spending the morning in Guernica, we took the bus back to Bilbao, saving time for the Museo Guggenheim. Located in the northern part of Bilbao along the river, the museum itself is an architectural marvel. It opened in 1997 and was instantly deemed the most important building of its time.
In fact, many visitors debate whether the building or the museum's contents are more famous. For us, we were taken by Canadian architect Frank Gehry's use of shimmering titanium tiles, glass, and limestone to construct the unique curvatures of the structure.
