Castel Sant'Angelo
The next morning, Brian and I went to the Castel Sant'Angelo to tour the inside and take in the views from the top of the building. Originally constructed to serve as the mausoleum for the Roman emperor Hadrian and his family, the castle was built along the banks of the Tiber River between 135 and 139 AD.
The last picture is a full-view of the castle from across the Ponte Sant'Angelo (Bridge Sant'Angelo) with an angel on the top of the structure, supposedly representing the angel that the castle is named after.
In the second picture from the bottom, you can see what that same bridge looked like from the top of the castle, but, personally, I think that I preferred the views of the Vatican. By this point in the trip, we were in scare-off-pickpockets mode, which shows on Brian's face...haha.
