Puente Colgante

After we took the funicular back down the hill, we decided to take the metro to the beaches located in the outskirts of the city. Along the way, we got off the metro for a bit to see the Puente Colgante, the first transporter bridge in the world.

It opened in 1893, linking the two towns of Getxo and Portugalete. As you can see, there is a large platform suspended from the bridge which is loaded with a maximum of six cars in addition to pedestrians on foot.
