Snowy Jayhawk!

Even the Jayhawk's cold....

Winter Break @ KU

After we got back from North Carolina, I ventured out to campus to get some work done. Needless to say that with all of the snow on the ground, it was quite an achievement to make it to Wescoe....

I-70 Kansas City-Lawrence

After we left the airport, we were both amazed at the amount of snow that was still on the ground everywhere. Here are some of the pictures that I took along I-70 as we drove from Kansas City to Lawrence.

Digging the Car Out at the Airport....

Since we left the car at the economy lot in the airport, it hadn't moved since the snow came. All the same, we were just lucky that we didn't have to call the snow line at KCI to have them come and dig us out! Brian is a pro at snow-driving!

A Blanket of Snow over KCI

Ironically, as we arrived to Kansas City, it was also covered in snow. Apparently, it has snowed the day after we leave for North Carolina, and, since the temperatures never got above 32, all that snow was still on the ground waiting for us!

Snowy Blue Ridge Mountains!

On Monday, December 28th, it was time for us to head back to Kansas. Although it was sad to say our goodbyes to our family and friends, seeing snow-covered mountains always has a way of lifting spirits!

Mountain Breakfast ala Kenny

The Sunday after Christmas, Brian's dad, Kenny, got up early and made a country breakfast with all the trimmings: eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, biscuits, gravy, etc. Needless to say, we all stuffed ourselves!

Christmas Dinner!

Because we ended up getting so busy on Christmas Day, Madre decided to prepare Christmas dinner the day after Christmas. Prime Rib, mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole, and rolls were still good a day later. We all devoured some cow, quite happily!

Christmas with Beverly and Jared!

The day after Christmas, we stopped by Beverly and Jared's house. One of the highlights of the holiday season is the abundance of sweet goodies at everyone's house. Beverly's was no different, so we settled in for a warm cup of Joe and a slice of rum cake!

Christmas at Madre and Padre's - Part II

Since Brian was feeling sick Christmas morning, we went back to Madre and Padre's house Christmas evening to finish exchanging gifts. Thank goodness Brian was feeling a lot better and could enjoy himself!

Christmas with Kenny, Jan, & Brynna!

After I finished up with all of the holiday festivities in Barnardsville, Brian and I went to his parents house for a little Christmas cheer!

Christmas in Barnardsville, NC!

For Christmas Day, Brian was feeling a little under the weather, so he held the fort down at home, resting in the bed. After I made sure he was good and Pepto-Bismol-ed up, Madre, Padre, and I left for Barnardsville, NC to see Grandpa and the rest of the Creegan family. All in all, it was a good day on the farm!
