Madre and Padre Visit to Kansas

Madre and Padre so graciously helped Brian and I move to Kansas. After it was all said and done, I think that the heat started to get to us.

Yep, that's us taking pictures in the Ruby Tuesday parking lot. We ain't right!

Kansas Sunset August 2008

Because it is so flat here in Kansas, the sunsets are always amazing - you never have to worry about anything being in the way of the view.

Back in the mountains, we always had to make special plans to see a sunset by driving to the top of a nearby mountain.

In Kansas, even catching a sunset from the Wal-Mart parking (as seen in this picture) is beautiful!

Our New Pad in Kansas

After driving for three days, we actually lived in the Econo Lodge here in Lawrence before we found an apartment to rent. At long last, however, we were finally moving our things in. Smokey was excited to see all of his old stuff again!

Move to Kansas

After spending 2 weeks in North Carolina with our family, it was time to move to Lawrence, Kansas. Brian and his dad drove out to Chapel Hill to pick up all of our stuff from our storage unit (also known as our little time capsule because we hadn’t seen any of our stuff for a year). The next morning, Madre, Padre, Brian, Smokey and I left with a Penske truck and my little Saturn to make the road trip to the Midwest.

All in all, the drive from Asheville, North Carolina to Lawrence, Kansas in a 30’ Penske truck took two full days, about 17 hours (without counting stops). Along the way, we drove through North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, and Missouri before arriving in Kansas. It was amazing to see so much of the countryside along the way.
